During a luncheon at the Johnston County Agricultural Center last week, hospital leaders thanked the 139 faithful men and women who volunteer. “We love you,” CEO Tom Williams said. “And we value the many skills, talents and experience you share with our organization.”

David Mills, chairman of the hospital’s board of directors, unveiled a check for $829,276, representing the value of the volunteers’ 24,762 hours. “We couldn’t do our jobs without you,” he said. “While we can put a value on your time, it’s hard to quantify your touch, your smiles, your caring gestures. You give with your heart. And these kindnesses are priceless.”

While all volunteers received certificates for hours of service, five received special awards.
