Camp Courage

Camp Courage- A Grief Camp presented by UNC Health Johnston

Saturday, September 12 | 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Sonlight Farms | 293 Bunn Road | Kenly, NC 27542

Camp Courage is a day camp for children and teens ages 6–17 who have experienced the death of someone important to them, such as a parent, grandparent, sibling, relative, or friend. The camp provides a safe, supportive environment where participants can connect with others who have experienced loss, share their feelings, and learn that they are not alone in their grief.

Through age-appropriate activities including art, music, games, group discussions, and remembrance activities, campers have opportunities to:

  • Recognize and express their feelings in healthy ways
  • Share memories and celebrate the lives of their loved ones
  • Better understand grief and the many emotions that come with loss
  • Explore ways to maintain meaningful connections to loved ones who have died
  • Learn healthy coping skills and build resilience
  • Connect with peers who are experiencing similar losses
Family Time

If you’re a parent or guardian, please join us at 4:00 p.m. on camp day to learn about the camp activities and to participate in a time of remembrance.
