Lynn Burrell, RPh

PGY-1 Interim Residency Program Director

Lynn Burrell serves as the PGY1 Interim Pharmacy Residency Program Director and Clinical Pharmacist Coordinator at UNC Health Johnston. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Lynn began her career in retail pharmacy before joining UNC Health Johnston, where she served as a staff pharmacist prior to transitioning into her current role. 

In her current position, Lynn oversees key initiatives including monitoring controlled substances and drug diversion, supervising Medication Reconciliation Technicians in the Emergency Department, and serving as the liaison for the SECU Hospice House. She leads the Medication Use Taskforce, focusing on medication safety through the review of SAFE reports. 

Lynn is actively involved in pharmacy and nursing education, precepts pharmacy students, and manages the inpatient staffing training for the residency program. Her commitment to patient safety, education, and clinical excellence supports the growth and development of future pharmacy professionals.

Amanda Perkins, PharmD, BCPS

Amanda Perkins, PharmD, BCPS

PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Coordinator

Dr. Perkins is a Clinical Pharmacist Coordinator at UNC Health Johnston. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Wingate University School of Pharmacy and subsequently completed a Post-Graduate Year One (PGY-1) Acute Care Residency at Cape Fear Valley Harnett Health. She is a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and holds a teaching certificate from Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Previously, Dr. Perkins worked as an inpatient clinical pharmacist at Cape Fear Valley Harnett Health, where she served as primary preceptor for critical care for PGY-1 residents. She also precepted pharmacy students from Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

At UNC Health Johnston, Dr. Perkins serves as the primary preceptor for Critical Care, Antimicrobial Stewardship, and Longitudinal Research and Medication Use Evaluations. She leads the hospital’s antimicrobial stewardship program and contributes to critical care services. Dr. Perkins is deeply passionate about improving clinical pharmacy services, and she is committed to advancing pharmacy practice at UNC Health Johnston.

Michaela Ngeve, PharmD, BCPS

Michaela Ngeve, PharmD, BCPS

PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency Coordinator

Dr. Michaela Ngeve is a Clinical Pharmacist Coordinator at UNC Health Johnston. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy at High Point University and completed a PGY1 Acute Care Residency at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where she also obtained a teaching certificate.

Before assuming her current role, Dr. Ngeve served as a clinical pharmacist at UNC Health Rex, where she provided care in the Emergency Department as well as inpatient oncology, internal medicine, and cardiology services. During her time there, she was a primary preceptor for PGY1 pharmacy residents in Emergency Medicine and Code Blue response.

In her current role, Dr. Ngeve serves as the primary preceptor for the internal medicine rotation and Continuing Education presentations. She oversees student training programs and leads key initiatives in formulary management and medication safety. Dr. Ngeve is highly dedicated to advancing clinical pharmacy practice, promoting medication safety, leading process improvement efforts, and mentoring future pharmacy professionals.

Andrew Haberkorn, PharmD

Andrew Haberkorn, PharmD

Dr. Haberkorn is the pharmacy manager at the UNC Health Johnston Hematology and Oncology outpatient clinic in Smithfield. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2017.

 His prior work experiences include working in case management/MTM for high risk hospital discharge patients, and general inpatient pharmacy for UNC Health Johnston. He serves as a preceptor for pharmacy students and PGY1 residents in addition to sitting on multiple UNC Health System committees.

Prior to attending pharmacy school, Dr. Haberkorn graduated from Clayton High School and is proud to work and serve patients in his home of Johnston County. His commitment to teamwork, teaching, and providing excellent care for the patients in his community make Dr. Haberkorn a vital member of the pharmacy department. He is excited to precept students at the Hematology and Oncology infusion clinic.

Trent Beach, PharmD, MBA, MHA, BCPS, CPEL, FASHP, FACHE is the Executive Director of Pharmacy for the Triangle East Region of UNC Health. In this role, Beach provides executive pharmacy leadership at the 5 hospitals that comprise UNC Health Johnston, UNC Health Rex, and UNC Health Southeastern. Over Dr. Beach’s career, he has been responsible for clinical quality, medication use policy, medication safety, and clinical pharmacy practice across integrated health enterprises. Dr. Beach is board-certified in Pharmacotherapy. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky and completed a General Clinical Pharmacy Residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals following his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Practice from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Beach holds master’s degrees in business administration and healthcare administration from the Wilmington University School of Business.

Dr. Beach is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a Fellow of the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists, an ASHP Certified Pharmacy Executive Leader, and a Master Examiner with the NIST Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program, administered through the U.S. Department of Commerce. Beach has served in a number of volunteer leadership roles, including immediate past Regent for Tennessee with ACHE, past President of ACHE-Middle Tennessee, and Chair of the ASHP Section Advisory Group on Managing the Pharmacy Enterprise, to name a few. In 2017, Beach was awarded the Tennessee Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists Health System Distinguished Service Award in recognition of career achievements.
